Ottoman Empire Millet System

When the Ottoman emperors ruled they brought lots of new ideas in their Empire. They went for various expansions as well as conquests and they wanted to increase and improve their Empire. The new ideas that they introduced were beneficial for their rule.

Millet is one of the terms which were quite special and important for this Empire. The term is actually used for the confessional communities that were present in this Empire. This origin of this term is quite obscure.

The Ottoman Empire millet system and millet Ottoman Empire were much discussed about topic among the historians. The two most popular millets which were present in this Empire were the Islam and Greek orthodox.

This term is actually used for the separate legal courts that were judged with personal laws. The communities which were present under the Ottoman Empire were allowed to rule according to their own personal law as well as under their own system.

One of the meanings of the term which has been found is nation in Arabic. Therefore the Ottoman Empire tried to create small nations so that ruling could become easy for them.
